The alluvial soils in the Bolzano suburb of Gries are ideal for the indigenous red Lagrein wine, which has been grown here for over 650 years.  This is a wine that pairs brilliantly with lamb, as well as with veal cheeks and other rich red meats.  It reveals earthy and minerally notes masterfully underpinned with fruit aromas, morello cherry, dark chocolate and plum jam dominating. These spicy and yet velvety fruit notes also intrigue on the palate, where this Lagrein Riserva presents itself with a multi-layered opulence and great complexity.
