Pojačana vina / Fortified wines

Pojačana vina nastaju dodavanjem vinskog špirita tokom ili nakon fermentacije, čime se povećava procenat alkohola, vino stabilizuje i u mnogim slučajevima čuva prirodna slatkoća. Prvobitno razvijena zbog izdržljivosti na dugim pomorskim putovanjima, ova vina su postala zaštitni znak istorijskih luka poput Porta i Jereza. Danas su najpoznatiji stilovi Porto iz Portugala, Sherry iz Španije i italijanski Vin Santo, od kojih svaki ima svoje posebne tradicije i prepoznatljiv ukus.

Ova vina mogu varirati od potpuno suvih do raskošno slatkih. Suvi Sherry je odličan aperitiv ili sastojak koktela, dok bogati Porto i Vin Santo predstavljaju klasična vina nakon večere, savršena uz sir ili dezert. Dugo potcijenjena, pojačana vina danas doživljavaju povratak zahvaljujući svojoj svestranosti, tradiciji i izuzetnoj vrijednosti.

 

Fortified wines are made by adding grape spirit during or after fermentation, which raises the alcohol, stabilizes the wine, and in many cases preserves natural sweetness. Originally developed for durability on long sea voyages, they became the signature wines of historic port cities such as Porto and Jerez. Today the most famous styles remain Port from Portugal, Sherry from Spain, and Italy’s Vin Santo, each with its own distinct traditions and flavor profile.

These wines can range from bone-dry to lusciously sweet. Dry Sherry makes a superb aperitif or cocktail ingredient, while rich Ports and Vin Santo are classic after-dinner wines, pairing beautifully with cheese or dessert. Long underrated, fortified wines are enjoying a revival thanks to their versatility, heritage, and outstanding value.
