Named in honour of Count Ugo della Gherardesca, whose family history is closely intertwined with the Bolgheri region, Cont'Ugo is Tenuta Guado al Tasso's tribute to the remarkable potential of Merlot on Tuscany's Mediterranean coast. Produced exclusively from carefully selected Merlot vineyards, the wine combines the richness and generosity of the variety with the freshness, elegance and minerality that define Bolgheri's unique maritime terroir. Matured in French oak barriques, Cont'Ugo has become one of Italy's benchmark Merlots, offering exceptional depth and sophistication while remaining unmistakably approachable and refined.

The outstanding 2021 vintage opens with expressive aromas of ripe black cherry, plum and blackberry, layered with notes of violet, cedar, sweet spice, mocha and finely integrated oak. On the palate, it is silky and beautifully structured, with polished tannins supporting concentrated flavours of dark berries, cocoa and liquorice, lifted by vibrant acidity and remarkable freshness.
