Château Pavie Macquin sits on the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, directly neighbouring some of the appellation’s most iconic estates, including Château Pavie and Château Troplong Mondot. Named after Albert Macquin, the pioneer who helped save Bordeaux vineyards from phylloxera by introducing grafting techniques, the estate combines deep historical significance with modern precision.

The 2018 vintage, from a warm and powerful year, is based predominantly on Merlot, supported by Cabernet Franc and a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, delivering both richness and structure with remarkable intensity.

In the glass, it shows a deep, saturated ruby colour. The nose is opulent and expressive, with aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and plum, layered with notes of violet, graphite, liquorice, dark chocolate, and sweet spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated, with ripe, velvety tannins and balanced acidity; the fruit is dense and enveloping, leading to a long, powerful finish marked by mineral depth, spice, and impressive persistence.
