Château Lynch-Bages is one of Pauillac’s most recognizable estates, owned by the Cazes family since 1939 and long known for its consistency and ability to rival classified growths above its rank. Situated on the Bages plateau, it lies alongside some of the appellation’s most prestigious neighbours, including Château Latour and Château Pichon Longueville Baron, highlighting the pedigree of its terroir.

The 2009 vintage, from a warm and generous year, represents a more opulent and expressive style compared to the more structured 2010. The blend is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, delivering both richness and power.

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby colour with a dense core. The nose is expansive and seductive, with aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, blackberry, and ripe plum, layered with notes of cedar, graphite, tobacco, sweet spice, and a hint of cocoa. On the palate, it is full-bodied and plush, with ripe, velvety tannins and slightly softer acidity than 2010; the fruit is generous and enveloping, leading to a long, smooth finish marked by spice, mineral depth, and a warm, lingering richness.
