Château Giscours is one of the benchmark estates of Margaux, set on extensive gravel ridges that give both structure and aromatic finesse. Following a major renaissance under Eric Albada Jelgersma, the château has re-established itself among the leading names of the appellation, with a clear focus on precision and vineyard expression.

The 2016 vintage, one of Bordeaux’s modern greats, is built around a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot and small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Compared to 2014, it shows greater concentration, depth, and structural intensity, while retaining the floral elegance that defines Margaux.

In the glass, it shows a deep, saturated ruby colour. The nose is intense and layered, with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and dark cherry, alongside notes of violet, cedar, graphite, and refined spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with firm, finely grained tannins and vibrant acidity; the fruit is dense yet precise, leading to a long, powerful finish marked by mineral depth, floral lift, and outstanding ageing potential.
