Château Calon-Ségur is one of the most iconic estates of the Médoc, instantly recognizable by its heart-emblazoned label and the famous declaration of the Marquis de Ségur: “I make wine at Lafite and Latour, but my heart is at Calon.” Known for combining Saint-Estèphe structure with unusual finesse, the estate has gained increasing precision in recent years.

The 2017 vintage, shaped by a challenging growing season, is based predominantly on Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot and a small proportion of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, resulting in a refined and classical expression.

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby colour. The nose is elegant and lifted, with aromas of blackcurrant, red cherry, and plum, layered with notes of cedar, graphite, violet, and subtle spice. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with finely grained tannins and fresh acidity; the fruit is precise and balanced, leading to a long, poised finish with mineral undertones, gentle spice, and notable elegance.
