94 bod. - James Suckling

94 points - James Suckling

Château Beau-Site sits on one of the Médoc’s highest points (indeed, Beau-Site means “beautiful site” in French). The estate’s 18th century underground cellar is one of the oldest in the Médoc and presents the perfect maturing conditions for a wine that is vinified with the same care and technique as a Grand Cru Classé. The nose is a subdued yet concentrated mix of cassis and fresh wood / tobacco, thanks to a predominance of Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% new oak. On the palate, the ripeness of the vintage has ensured a firm mouthful of rich blackcurrant fruit, ripe tannins and balanced acidity. The long finish is blessed with pure red fruit.
