Naziv Ca’Marcanda potiče iz dijalekta Pijemonta i može se prevesti kao „kuća beskrajnih pregovora“, što se odnosi na brojne sastanke između prethodnih vlasnika zemljišta i Angela Gaje – pregovori koji su se konačno završili 1996. godine kupovinom imanja. Ovo vino nosi ime imanja i predstavlja vrhunac proizvodnje porodice Gaja u Bolgheriju.

Ca’Marcanda iz berbe 2015. predstavlja jednu od posljednjih berbi u kojoj se koristi Merlot, koji u ovom sastavu čini još uvijek 50%, dok preostalih 40% otpada na Cabernet Sauvignon i 10% na Cabernet Franc.

Toplo i sunčano ljeto 2015. godine donijelo je generalno izvanrednu berbu u Bolgheriju, a svakako i na ovom imanju. Vino je bogato i raskošno, iako možda nešto manje kompleksno u poređenju sa nekim drugim berbama. Ipak, voće je savršeno zrelo, sa dominantnim notama crvenog i tamnog bobičastog voća, šljive i tamne trešnje, uz nagovještaje lavande, začinskog bilja, sladića i muškatnog oraščića.  Divno vino koje će nastaviti da pruža uživanje sve do sredine 2030-ih godina.

The name Ca'Marcanda derives from a Piedmontese dialect expression which can be translated as the “house of endless negotiations” and refers to the several meetings between the previous landowners and Angelo Gaja, a very long negotiation finally concluded in 1996 with the land purchase. This is the wine that takes the name from the Estate, representing the pinnacle of the production for the Gaja family in Bolgheri.

This 2015 Camarcanda is one of the last vintages to feature Merlot, which is still at 50% of the blend here ... the rest of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc.  The warm and sunny summer in 2015 produced a generally excellent vintage in Bolgheri, and certainly at this estate:  the wine is rich and exuberant, if perhaps slightly less complex than you might find in other vintages.  Nonetheless, the fruit is perfectly ripe and dominated by notes of red and black berries, plum and dark cherry complemented by hints of lavender, herbs, licorice and nutmeg.  It's a lovely wine that should continue to reward until the mid-2030s.
