Camarcanda, Ca'Marcanda (Gaja) 2010 (750 ml)
96 poena – The Wine Advocate
Ovo vino nosi ime imanja i predstavlja vrhunac proizvodnje porodice Gaja u Bolgheriju.
96 points - The Wine Advocate
The name Ca'Marcanda derives from a Piedmontese dialect expression which can be translated as the “house of endless negotiations” and refers to the several meetings between the previous landowners and Angelo Gaja, a very long negotiation finally concluded in 1996 with the land purchase. This is the wine that takes the name from the Estate, representing the pinnacle of the production for the Gaja family in Bolgheri.
The 2010 Camarcanda is a blockbuster blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc that offers sensational notes of cassis, dried blackberry, Morello cherry and spice. The flavours here are deep and layered, and the oak elements are beautifully integrated, offering complementary notes of chocolate and tobacco. There is also a lovely minerality to it, an edge of graphite that just frames the whole thing beautifully. The tannins are sweet, and everything leads towards a big crescendo of a finish. It's certainly drinking beautifully now but this will easily last another decade.
