Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars osnovan je 1970. godine kupovinom vinograda S.L.V. Samo šest godina kasnije, njihov Cabernet Sauvignon iz berbe 1973. osvojio je najvišu nagradu na čuvenoj slijepoj degustaciji u Parizu (Judgment of Paris), nadmašivši neka od najprestižnijih bordoških château-a. Ova pobjeda učvrstila je reputaciju Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, ali i Napa Valley kao regije sposobne za proizvodnju vina svjetske klase. Danas se Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars smatra referencom za kvalitet među kalifornijskim Cabernet Sauvignon vinima.

S.L.V., poznat i kao Stag’s Leap Vineyards, predstavlja prvi vinograd ove čuvene vinarije. Danas, ovaj vinograd i dalje daje vina sa slojevitom kompleksnošću, začinskom intenzivnošću i izuzetnom strukturom. Vrlo suvi uslovi tokom 2020. godine rezultirali su vinom koje nudi izdašne arome crne ribizle, moke, masline, smokve i blagi nagovještaj espresa.  Vino ima bogat osjećaj u ustima i gustu, ali uravnoteženu jezgru, koja vodi ka dugom završetku sa ukusima tamne čokolade, redukovane kupine i suptilnog hrastovog tona.  Uživajte uz pečena mesa, grilovani biftek sa chimichurri sosom, confit od pačetine sa pečenim smokvama ili, možda, uz polentu ili ravioli od pečuraka sa ljutim Arrabiata sosom.

Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars was established in 1970 with the purchase of the S.L.V. vineyard. Only six years later, the 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded the highest honour at the Judgment of Paris blind tasting, besting First Growth Bordeaux Châteaux. This achievement solidified Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars and the Napa Valley as places that crafted world-class wines. Today, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars is a quality benchmark for California Cabernet Sauvignon.

S.L.V., also known as Stag’s Leap Vineyards, is the winery’s first vineyard. Today, this vineyard continues to produce wines with layers of complexity, spicy intensity and excellent structure. Very dry conditions in 2020 resulted in a wine that offers generous aromas of black currants, mocha, olive, figs, and a touch of espresso. A rich mouthfeel, and a dense, balanced core, lead into a lengthy finish with flavours of dark chocolate, blackberry reduction, and a touch of oak.  Enjoy with roast meats, grilled steak with chimichurri sauce, duck confit with roasted figs or perhaps a polenta or mushroom ravioli with Arrabiata sauce.
