Garrus nije samo luksuzni rosé; ovo je rosé osmišljen i proizveden gotovo poput Grand Cru bijelog Burgundca. Vodeće vino Château d’Esclans proizvodi se prvenstveno od Grenachea, uz Rolle (Vermentino), uključujući grožđe sa parcele Grenachea stare gotovo 100 godina. Samotok fermentiše i sazrijeva 11 mjeseci u francuskim hrastovim demi-muid bačvama od 600 litara, uz redovan bâtonnage na talogu – pristup koji Garrusu daje izuzetnu teksturu, strukturu i sposobnost razvoja u boci.

Sa pet godina starosti, 2021 sada ulazi u posebno zanimljivu fazu razvoja. Mladalačke arome breskve, kruške i citrusa sve se više integrišu sa hrastom, otkrivajući slojeve kandiranih citrusa, kajsije, nježnog crvenog voća, prepečenih nota, začina i izraženog mineralnog i slanog karaktera. Na nepcu je širok i kremast, ali i dalje izuzetno svjež, sa odličnom strukturom i dugim, kompleksnim završetkom. Za razliku od klasičnog roséa, Garrus je napravljen da sazrijeva deceniju ili duže u velikim berbama i uz pravilno čuvanje: daljim odležavanjem u boci svježe voćne arome postepeno će ustupati mjesto kompleksnijim notama suve kajsije i kore citrusa, meda, orašastih plodova, tosta, začina i mediteranskog bilja, dok će tekstura postajati sve skladnija, a hrast potpuno integrisan. Berba 2021 je već sada izuzetno lijepa za piće, ali nema nikakve potrebe za žurbom – ovo je ozbiljno veliko vino koje će nastaviti fascinantno da se razvija sa godinama.

Napomena: Budući da je Garrus veliko vino namijenjeno dugom sazrijevanju u boci, vremenom se može pojaviti mala količina prirodnog taloga. To je potpuno normalno i ne predstavlja manu vina. Ista pojava česta je kod zrelih crvenih vina, samo što je zbog njihove tamnije boje mnogo manje primjetna. Ukoliko primijetite talog, dovoljno je bocu ostaviti uspravno prije serviranja i vino pažljivo sipati.

Garrus is not simply a luxury rosé; it is a rosé conceived and made much like a Grand Cru white Burgundy. Château d’Esclans’ flagship wine is produced principally from Grenache, with Rolle (Vermentino), including fruit from a parcel of nearly century-old Grenache vines. The free-run juice is fermented and aged for 11 months in 600-litre French oak demi-muids, with regular bâtonnage of the lees – a method that gives Garrus extraordinary texture, structure and capacity to evolve in bottle.

At five years of age, the 2021 is now beginning to enter a particularly interesting stage of its development. The youthful peach, pear and citrus fruit is becoming more integrated with the wine’s oak, revealing layers of candied citrus, apricot, subtle red fruit, toast, spice and a distinctly savoury, mineral character. The palate is broad and creamy yet remains remarkably fresh, with fine structure and a long, complex finish. Unlike conventional rosé, Garrus is built to age for a decade or more in a great vintage and under proper cellaring: with further bottle age, expect the primary fruit to gradually give way to more complex notes of dried apricot and citrus peel, honey, nuts, toast, spice and savoury herbs, while the texture becomes increasingly seamless and the oak fully integrates. The 2021 is already drinking beautifully, but there is absolutely no hurry – this is a serious fine wine that should continue to evolve fascinatingly with age.

Please note: As Garrus is a fine wine designed for extended bottle ageing, a small amount of natural sediment may develop over time. This is entirely normal and does not indicate a fault in the wine. The same phenomenon occurs frequently in mature red wines, although their deeper colour makes it much less noticeable. If sediment is present, simply allow the bottle to stand upright before serving and pour gently.
