Château Brane Cantenac 2015, Grand Cru Classé (750 ml)
94 poena – The Wine Advocate
Vino nudi predivnu aromatsku kompleksnost sa notama borovnice (Boysen), kandirane maline i zgnječene jagode, oplemenjenim mirisima uvele ljubičice i suptilnim mineralnim tonovima.
94 points - The Wine Advocate
Already well-known in the 18th century, and ranked a second growth in the 1855 classification, this chateau has been under the ownership and direction of Henri Lurton since 1992. As with most Lurton wines, the goal here has been to combine the estate's excellent viticultural tradition with modernized facilities aimed at magnifying the identity of the wines from this exceptional terroir of the Margaux appellation.
The blend in this vintage is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Carménère. It offers a beautiful aromatic complexity with notes of Boysen blackberry, candied raspberry and crushed strawberry, enhanced by pressed violet and subtle mineral touches. On the palate it is fresh, linear and elegant, seducing the drinker with its silky texture, supple tannins and balance. The finish is persistent and of rare distinction. This is a wine that could be cellared until 2050 or later, but if you do open it, pair it with some very good quality beef, perhaps accompanied by confit aubergine or other vegetables.
