Pieve Santa Restituta je imanje porodice Gaja u Montalčinu, kupljeno 1994. godine. To je bila prva ekspanzija porodice van Pijemonta još od osnivanja vinarije u Barbaresku 1859. godine. Sugarille je južno orijentisan vinograd sa zemljištem koje čine glina i krečnjak. Kao i sva vina Brunello, sastoji se isključivo od sorte Sangiovese.

Ovo vino se proizvodi u veoma ograničenim količinama, i to isključivo u izuzetnim berbama. Sugarille iz 2007. godine predstavlja predivan izraz ovog veličanstvenog terroira. Elegantno i kompleksno, sa izvanrednom definicijom i dužinom, ima profinjen i obavijajući bouquet sa notama šumskog voća, uz nagovještaje slatkih trava i suptilnih začina. Kompleksno, baršunasto nepce otkriva bogatu srž zrelih crvenih trešanja, savršeno uravnoteženih sa izuzetno finim, potpuno integrisanim taninima i osvježavajućom, živahnom kisjelošću. Slojevite, mineralne note daju izražen karakter i stil u završnici.

Vino je sada na savršenoj tački zrelosti, ali ni u kom slučaju nije staro — nastaviće da se razvija i postaje sve kompleksnije tokom narednih 10 godina. Nažalost, naše zalihe sigurno neće trajati toliko dugo...

Pieve Santa Restituta is Gaja’s estate in Montalcino, purchased in 1994. It is the family’s first expansion outside Piedmont since the winery's establishment in Barbaresco in 1859.    Sugarille is a single south-facing vineyard consisting of clay and limestone.  As with all Brunello wines, it is comprised of 100% Sangiovese.  

Not many bottles of this are produced, and only in the better vintages.  The 2007 Sugarille is a wonderful expression of this magnificent terroir. Elegant and complex with superb definition and length, it has a bouquet that is refined and enveloping with notes of wild berries and hints of sweet herbs and subtle spices. The complex, velvety palate has a heady core of rich, red cherry fruit, balanced by incredibly fine, perfectly integrated tannins and a refreshing, crisp acidity. Complex, mineral notes give great definition and style on the finish. The wine is at a perfect age now, but by no means old ... it will continue to develop in complexity for at least another 10 years.  Sadly, our stock certainly won't last that long ...
