Viognier, Montagne Noir 2022

While the literal translation of this wine is “Montenegro,” the black mountain referred to here is the large range that run along the northern edge of France’s Languedoc-Roussillon wine region.  Vinified exclusively in stainless steel, which allows the wine’s tart, citrus notes and delicate aromas to shine through, this is like a classically styled northern Rhône Viognier, but on holiday – a little lighter and crisper.  In addition to lemon, look for white peach, honeysuckle and flint aromas and pair this with fish soup, shellfish and even spicier foods (such as Indian or Thai).
