Le Sol (francuski: tlo) potiče iz renomirane vinogradarske apelacije Gimblett Gravels, čije šljunkovito tlo privlači sunce tokom ljeta i zadržava toplotu tokom zime. Čokoti Syraha, naslijeđeni klon koji je donesen na Novi Zeland 1840-ih, zasađeni su na najkamenitijim dijelovima vinograda. Vinograd se intenzivno ručno obrađuje, a grožđe daje duboko tamni Syrah s ljubičastim nijansama.

Le Sol (French: the soil) is born of the renowned Gimblett Gravels viticultural appellation, with its gravelly soils attracting the sun in summer and insulating the vines in winter. The vines are planted in the stoniest parts of the vineyard to a heritage clone of Syrah brought to New Zealand in the 1840s. Intensively hand managed, the grapes reveal a deep dark Syrah with purple hues.

In 2019 this wine offers an overwhelming presence in the glass, suggesting that it is destined to become an iconic vintage.  The nose is flush with mulberry, violets, lavender and cocoa. While young and vibrant with taut tannins, the palate is complex, deep and intoxicating – there is so much dark, black fruit here, evolving with each mouthful.  Pair this with braised or grilled beef, or strong cheese.
