Na nosu je profinjen i izražajan, sa aromama crne trešnje, šljive i borovnice, složenim sa notama suvog bilja, grafita i suptilnog kedra. Na nepcu je velikodušan, a opet odmjeren, sa zrelim tamnim voćem, nagovještajima kakaa i slatkih začina, koje podržavaju podatni tanini i svježa linija kisjelosti. Dodir mineralne slanosti naglašava porijeklo iz laporastih zemljišta Brda.

Završetak je dug i uravnotežen, ostavljajući elegantne utiske tamnog bobičastog voća, začina i finog hrasta. Strukturiran, a istovremeno pristupačan i u mladosti, ovo je Merlot dubine i profinjenosti koji se odlično slaže sa pečenom jagnjetinom, goveđim gulašom ili odležanim sirevima.

The 2020 vintage of Merlot “Cru Selection” reflects both the warmth of the year and the precision of Marjan Simčič’s winemaking in Goriška Brda.

On the nose it is refined and expressive, with aromas of black cherry, plum, and blueberry layered with notes of dried herbs, graphite, and subtle cedar. The palate is generous yet poised, showing ripe dark fruit, hints of cocoa and sweet spice, supported by supple tannins and a fresh line of acidity. A touch of mineral salinity underscores the wine’s origin in Brda’s marl soils.

The finish is long and balanced, leaving elegant impressions of dark berries, spice, and fine oak. Structured yet approachable in youth, this is a Merlot of depth and finesse that will pair beautifully with roast lamb, braised beef, or aged cheeses.
