Château La Croix du Casse 2019, from the prestigious appellation of Pomerol on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, is a blend of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc. It shows a medium ruby-red colour and an expressive bouquet of ripe red fruits such as currants, cherries, and plums, lifted by delicate floral notes and subtle earthy undertones. The palate is medium-bodied, smooth, and silky, with well-integrated tannins and a fresh, balanced profile. Plush and refined, it offers flavours of juicy plum, hints of chocolate, and gentle spice, leading to a lingering, harmonious finish. Approachable now with a brief decant, it also has the structure to age gracefully over the next decade or more. It pairs beautifully with Montenegrin classics such as slow-roasted lamb under the sač, grilled beef steak, venison stew, Njeguški pršut, and hearty bean or veal dishes, as well as aged local cheeses like Njeguški sir.
