95 - 96 poena - James Suckling

95 - 96 points - James Suckling

Château du Domaine de l’Église 2016, crafted predominantly from Merlot (96%) with a dash of Cabernet Franc (4%), embodies Pomerol elegance with increasing grace as it evolves. On the nose, there’s a subtle emergence of truffle weaving through sweet, ripe fruit, hinting at developing complexity. The palate reveals a medium-bodied, succulent core, marked by bright red and dark berries, spiced plum nuances, and earthy undertones softened by silky, fine-grained tannins. The overall impression is one of harmony and finesse—approachable yet refined, with just enough structure to suggest it will continue to reward those with a little patience.
