Château de Camensac 2016, from the Haut-Médoc appellation of Bordeaux and classified as a Fifth Growth in the 1855 Classification, is a testament to the estate’s reputation for producing elegant, classically styled wines. The château, located just outside Saint-Julien, has a long history and is known for its meticulous vineyard management and balanced blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The 2016 vintage is composed of equal parts of these two varieties, offering a medium-bodied structure with freshness, brightness, and pure red fruit flavours—particularly red currant and cranberry—accented by earthy undertones and tobacco leaf. The palate is crisp and lively, with sweet, chewy fruit and polished tannins that flow into a clean, uplifting finish. Floral notes of violet and rose petal, along with a touch of baking chocolate, add refinement and depth. This is a harmonious, approachable wine with the structure to evolve gracefully over time.
