    Jedno od najstarijih imanja u Médocu, a ime potiče bitke (“bataille“ na francuskom) koja se odigrala 1452. godine tokom stogodišnjeg rata na mjestu gdje se sada nalaze zamak i vinograd. 

    Upravo sa berbom iz 2005. godine, Batailley je započeo svoj uspon ka vrhu među najboljim domainima u Pauillacu, a ovo vino je posebno pogodno za čuvanje u magnum bocama, jer je očigledno stvoreno za dug vijek trajanja. Nudi predivan buket sa živopisnim notama crvenog bobičastog voća i izvanrednom mineralnošću. Dobro fokusirano, sa blagim tonovima latica ruže, vino je srednjeg tijela sa finim taninima. Sada se nalazi u svom optimalnom periodu za konzumaciju, a u magnum formatu će trajati još najmanje jednu deceniju.

    One of the oldest estates in the Médoc, the name is derived from a battle (“bataille“ in French) that took place in 1452 – during the Hundred Years War – where the château and vineyard are today.

    It was with this 2005 vintage that Batailley began its upward swing into the pantheon of the best estates in Paulliac, and it is a particularly good wine to hold in magnum, since it is clearly built for the long term.  It offers a gorgeous bouquet with vibrant red berry fruit and a superb mineraliy.  Well focused, with hints of rose petal, the palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins.  Now in its optimal drinking window, this will last another decade in magnum, at least.
