Pieve Santa Restituta je imanje porodice Gaja u Montalčinu, kupljeno 1994. godine. To je bila prva ekspanzija porodice van Pijemonta još od osnivanja vinarije u Barbaresku 1859. godine. Rennina je vinograd južnozapadne orijentacije, sa zemljištem koje potiče iz eocenske epohe, sastavljenim uglavnom od pijeska, tufa i gline. Kao i sva vina Brunello, sastoji se isključivo od sorte Sangiovese.
Ovo vino se proizvodi u malim količinama i to samo u najboljim berbama. Berba iz 2007. godine pokazuje intenzivnu rubin crvenu boju sa nijansama granata; arome su široke i dominiraju zrelim tamnim voćem, posebno kupinama i suvim šljivama... koje su upotpunjene notama kakaa i espresa.
Na nepcu je vino toplo, baršunasto i luksuzno... vrlo elegantno, sa blagim, mekim taninima. Lako bi moglo da odležava još 5 – a možda čak i 10 godina – ali je i sada izvanredno (poslednje degustirano u aprilu 2025). Bilo bi savršen pratilac pečenog mesa, divljači i zrelih sireva.

Pieve Santa Restituta is Gaja’s estate in Montalcino, purchased in 1994. It is the family’s first expansion outside Piedmont since the winery's establishment in Barbaresco in 1859. Rennina is a single south-west facing vineyard with soil that dates back to the Eocene age and mainly consists of sand, tuff and clay. As with all Brunello wines, it is comprised of 100% Sangiovese.
Not many bottles of this are produced, and only in the better vintages. This 2007 vintage is showing an intense ruby red colour with garnet nuances; the aromas are broad and dominated by ripe black fruit, most especially blackberries and dried plumps... these are complimented by notes of cocoa and espresso. On the palate it is warm, velvet and luxurious ... very elegant with soft tannins. This could easily age another 5 (maybe even 10) years, but it's terrific now - last tasted in April 2025 - and would be a perfect complement to roast meats, game and seasoned cheese.
